Our Honeymoon

November 2014
"Iorana!" (hello in French Polynesian). For our honeymoon, we traveled to our fantasy location, Bora Bora—a tiny island about half way between Hawaii and New Zealand, a few weeks after our wedding ceremony. Leaving Chicago, we had a layover in Santa Monica, California where we stayed at the stunning Viceroy Hotel and biked up and down Santa Monica and Venice Beaches. We were soon on our way to Bora Bora via an 8 hour flight to Tahiti, an hour flight to the island of Bora Bora, and then an hour boat ride to our hotel, Le Meridien. We stayed in an amazing over-water bungalow at the end of the pontoon facing Mount Otemanu, an extinct volcano. Our bungalow had the most amazing views of the clearest bright blue water we've ever seen, a deck where we could jump directly into the ocean, and a glass floor where we very often saw fish and giant stingrays swimming underneath our hut; and our resort had an amazing turtle sanctuary where we got to get up close with the cutest sea turtles. The beauty was beyond anything we had ever experienced and was very hard to capture it in photographs, but below you can see some of the details from our amazing trip! "Maruru!" (thank you in French Polynesian)
